Canton of Forestgate Arts & Sciences Offerings

Here in Forestgate there is a regular Monday evening A&S meeting, from 7pm to 10pm. All are welcome, even if you do not plan on participating in the subject of the evening and just want to enjoy the company. Tea or coffee will be served, dessert is pot-luck.

As the Mistress of A&S, it is my goal to offer the following to our local members:

• A regular meeting to evoke a sense of community among artists.
• Discussions on a variety of subjects. If there is a subject you wish to learn about, let me know. Classes are planned quarterly.
• Outreach to other SCA group A&S areas. If there's something you want to learn even more about, I'll see if I can find out who can teach it.
• Occasional field trips, including fabric stores in Philadelphia and NYC, Museum trips, mundane arts festival trips, and SCA A&S events trips. Field trips are carpooled or use mass transit.

Random Project Night

Random Project Night is a night when we can gather as members of the canton and work on whatever project each person's heart desires. We have many materials for various arts that you may use to try out a new hobby. Tea, coffee, and some dessert usually available. Donations of desserts gladly accepted. Some ideas for things you can do at random project night:

• Help work on the new canton banner, our canton project
• practice spinning. drop spindles and roving available.
• practice weaving. small loom available.
• practice inkle weaving. inkle loom available.
• practice card weaving. cards and cotton yarns available.
• practice calligraphy. paper, ink, nibs, and lettering books available.
• sew garb. help and sewing machines available.
• research garb for your persona. books available.
• research name/arms for your persona. help available.
• research a period subject. Many books and internet available.
